Hello and welcome to Stadium Guide Book, your friendly, independent guide to UK football grounds, away days, pubs, parking, and all the matchday magic!
We’re a small, fan-run site (not connected to any clubs or leagues), and we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we handle any personal info you share with us, in line with the UK GDPR (including updates from the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
We don’t collect huge amounts of data. We’re here to help you plan brilliant trips to the match, not to build profiles on you.
What information do we collect?
- Personal info (only if you choose to give it):
Things like your name and email address if you contact us (e.g., to suggest a pub update, send a photo, or report something wrong), sign up for occasional email updates (if we offer them), or fill in a form. You can always browse anonymously – no login required. - Non-personal info:
Standard stuff like your browser type, device, rough location (from IP), how you found us, and pages you visit. This helps us see what guides are popular (e.g., more people checking Old Trafford or non-league spots) so we can improve the site.
Cookies and similar tech
We use cookies (small text files) and similar tools to make the site work better, remembering preferences, counting visitors, and (if we have any) showing relevant ads. Most are “strictly necessary” (no consent needed under PECR), but others (like analytics or ad-related) may need your okay.
We aim for a simple cookie banner where you can accept, reject, or customise. You can also adjust your browser settings to block cookies, though some site bits might not work perfectly then.
For more detail, check our separate Cookie Notice (linked in the footer).
How we use your information (and our lawful bases under UK GDPR)
We only use data for sensible reasons:
- To run and improve the site (e.g., fix bugs, add better groundhopping tips) → Legitimate interests (ours and yours as fans wanting a useful resource).
- To reply to your emails or messages (e.g., “Great shout on that Wrexham pub!”) → Legitimate interests or to respond to you.
- If you opt in to emails: To send occasional updates (new guides, big ground changes) → Consent (you can unsubscribe anytime via the link in every email).
- Aggregated stats (no personal details) to understand usage → Legitimate interests.
We don’t do automated decisions that affect you significantly.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal info – ever. Full stop. We might share anonymised stats with partners (e.g., if we run a small ad campaign). We use trusted third-party tools (like Google Analytics for site stats, or email services if we send newsletters) – they process data on our behalf under strict agreements. If required by law (e.g., court order), we’d have to share, but that’s rare.
Security
We use reasonable security measures (encryption where possible, secure hosting) to protect your info from unauthorised access or loss. But no system is 100% hack-proof. If something goes wrong, we’ll let you know as required by law.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have rights over your data:
- Access what we hold about you
- Correct inaccuracies
- Delete it (in most cases)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Portability (get a copy)
- Withdraw consent (if we rely on it)
Just email us at contact@stadiumguidebook.com and we’ll sort it quickly and free of charge (unless it’s manifestly unfounded/excessive).
If you’re unhappy, complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk.
International transfers
Most of our tools are UK/EU-based, but some (like Google) may involve transfers outside the UK/EEA. We rely on UK adequacy decisions, standard clauses, or other approved safeguards.
How long we keep data
Only as long as needed – emails/contacts usually a few years (in case follow-ups), analytics data typically 26 months or less. Then we delete or anonymise.
Third-party links & ads
We sometimes link to other sites (e.g., club ticket pages, Google Maps for directions) or show ads (possibly via Google AdSense). Their privacy rules apply once you click away, so make sure to check them out.
Ad partners may use cookies for targeted ads; that’s covered in our Cookie Notice.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this if things change (e.g., new features). We’ll post the new version here with the updated date and (if big) email users who’ve opted in or highlight it on the homepage.
